Hola.

I (eventually) earned my BFA in Studio Art from Virginia Tech, after dropping in and out while doing things like publishing comics (best new pub, 1998), freelance brand design (Papa John’s Inc), tending bar, selling books, art, and computers, etc.  I was well on my way to the 10-12 jobs the average American will have by the age of 38.

I had the great pleasure to work at the New Media Center in Torgersen after graduation and learned a TON of great multimedia stuff from a lot of knowledgeable people.  That job included teaching responsibilities as an instructor for the Educause award-winning Faculty Development Institute and provided my first formal teaching experience.  It was intimidating at first, but I loved it and was hooked.

I was offered an adjunct position teaching the Principles of New Media for the School of Visual Arts but left Tech in August ’08 (after starting grad school in Education) to assume my current job as the curriculum guy for the Digital Art & Design program within the kick-ass Business of Art & Design program at the even-more-kick-ass Southern Virginia Higher Education Center in South Boston, VA (which, co-incidentally, is located in kick-ass Halifax county).

Here I teach Multimedia, Computer Graphics, and Creative Thinking courses through Danville Community College and HCHS. I love this job, love the people I work with, the students I teach, the opportunities we facilitate, and the good we do.  I’m still a grad student, still an artist, and still learning.
